TAG's Closing Submission to Panel Hearing—Aug 2006
Boroondara Planning Scheme Amendment C70, Tooronga Village
Presented by Stephen Hare
- The Panel and Responsible Authority have, with respect, the obligation to not repeat mistakes of the past. The opportunity exits to actually address these mistakes.
- Set clear guidelines, to the land owner and any potential developer. These guidelines should not be based on the fear that no development will occur, but should reflect both the limitations and opportunities that exist for the Tooronga Village and brickworks sites.
- The existing CDZ closed off what have since become quite legitimate options such as a residential development.
- Any future Planning Scheme needs to include the mechanism for a review should there be a change in, or a new, Government policy or focus. Importantly, there should be a provision in the scheme of a sunset clause. Controls relating to this site need to remain relevant.
Thank you for your consideration.
