Statement of Purposes
Our mission is:
- To specifically monitor re-development proposals for the Tooronga Village shopping centre and the former brickworks site;
- To enhance the livability of residents in the Tooronga area and its surrounds;
- To promote community involvement and to facilitate communication between residents, Council and planning authorities;
- To encourage residents to join our association and become an active participant in our endeavours;
- To explain to residents how this allows the residents to speak with one voice when dealing with planning authorities, Councils as well as State Government;
- To work with planning authorities as well as other organisations, which have interests similar to ours, to ensure local communities have a say in the planning and development processes;
- To represent the interests of residents of the Tooronga area and its surrounds;
- To seek to protect neighborhoods from inappropriate development and commercial intrusion and to demand appropriate infrastructure and concurrence, thus insuring an excellent quality of life for neighborhood residents through better planning and oversight;
- To access lessons learned in other municipalities which have been successful in providing a stimulating, beautiful and healthy environment for their residents and visitors;
- To positively impact, with informed public participation, those governmental processes relating to urban planning, growth management and development, which affect the historic and new neighborhoods in the Tooronga area;
- To develop, together with the City, the State Government and their consultants, comprehensive plans, zoning, and other ordinances and regulations consistent with our Mission.
